It was good, mostly, six days on the road with Ben the videographer. We put up 8 travel videos and the response? 6,237 views on FB with 226 likes with another 896 views on the YouTube version of those same videos. Splendid, I think.

But attendance was small, and many of the people who committed to attending one or more of the events never showed. But thanks and special shoutouts to attendees Brett Robb, Susan Walters, Nick and Jane Spadafino (from New Jersey, no less), Fr. Lucas Rice, and my two sisters Deena and Debbie.

We sold perhaps 40 books, and we could have sold more if had we books to sell. What I mean is, only one book of the five arrived on time and in good shape. The other four did not. Needless to say, we were both sad and mad.

Which explains why we canceled the last three events: two in Lexington and one in Covington. Hard to do a book signing event with no books, right?

We hope to reschedule those three events, but more than that, we are developing Plan B for marketing and selling the books.

Over the next few weeks, we will launch the South Carolina component of the Tangle Tour ’26 when our local book finally arrives: Fenwick the Frog: How We Built the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Which is about the rails-to-trails success story right here in Greenville County SC.  Today, it is the chief cultural, economic, and wellness initiative in the entire county. And my book will, finally, tell the story of how it happened, how Fenwick the Frog, long-time associate of The Meetinghouse, mobilized the woodland creatures to make it happen. It will inspire you. But you have to buy it first, and you can order it at themeetinghousepress.net, or you can wait until I announce book events along the Trail. Plus, I am going to have a sidewalk sale for my neighborhood of 54 homes, in Travelers Rest.

I am already thinking about another Tangle Tour, this one featuring SUNDAY IN THE HOUSE, hosted by organizations, churches, and people along a chosen route. I will keep you posted.

Before I launch into that in the days ahead, let me say how much fun we had with things that were never on our itinerary: the Tennessee State Fair Grounds, the Purple Building at Five Points in Nashville, the John Prine Memorial Park in Muhlenberg County, the Bluegrass Museum and Hall of Fame in Owensboro, and the Big Four Bridge over the Ohio in Louisville.

It was a great trip, even if shorted by three days!
