Sunday in the House is a weekly, live, 30-minute broadcast, origination on YouTube and carried live on Facebook. Host is Rev. Dr. Dwight A. Moody. Week by week, the program of Sunday in the House discusses the potential of the teachings of Jesus to contribute powerfully to the renewal of both the American Christian community and the practice of democracy in the United States. We refer to the teachings of Jesus as “the Red Letter Jesus” arising from the practice of some bible publishers to print the words of Jesus in red ink.

To comment on any of this, use a Facebook post or write Dr. Moody using the standard contact form elsewhere on this website.

To submit your video for use on the Friends of the House feature,  upload the video to your Facebook page, then contact us; we will download it and use in as soon as we can on SUNDAY IN THE HOUSE.

This weekly program is oriented toward those who have ceased attending worship or any other religious activities but still are interested in the life and teaching of Jesus and also in resisting political regimes that favor the rich rather than the poor, ignore protections for the environment, demonize people of color in favor of white people, and use religion as a cover for personal gain.

What does "resurrection" look like when the church bells aren't ringing and the liturgy is stripped away?

In this week's Red Letter Lesson, Dwight A. Moody takes us to the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Following the crucifixion, the disciples did what many of us do when life gets overwhelming: they reverted to their "factory settings." They went back to what they knew—fishing.

But as the Gospel of John (Chapter 21) tells us, resurrection has a way of punching a hole in our explanations. From a miraculous catch of fish to a simple breakfast on the beach, Jesus reveals that resurrection power isn't just an ancient story—it’s a present-day force that disrupts the normal and offers hope when we least expect it.

In this episode, Dwight discusses:

The temptation to return to "default settings" during times of doubt.

Why modern resurrection doesn't depend on archaeological evidence, but on acts of mercy and courage.

Moving testimonies from the Artemis II moon mission and how "wonder" connects us all.

Finding "resurrection moments" in our own lives—through forgiveness, humility, and unexpected answers to prayer.

A call to be a "carrier" of hope in a world facing economic and social trouble.
