The year of our Lord 2025 is gone, and good riddance!
It was a year of death, destruction, and disruption, especially for these United States of America but also for the countries we bombed: Venezuela, Iran, and Nigeria (to name those we know about). Closer to home, the chief accomplishment of the Trump Regime was to blow up services that helped citizens and build prisons for, well, just about anybody they don’t like. To hell with the law and due process.
Expect more of the same in 2026, led by “the four horsemen of the apocalypse.” That title comes straight out of the Revelation, chapter four, when the seven seals binding the scroll held by the One on the throne were opened, unleashing the white horse, the red horse, the black horse, and the pale horse; the four riders had power to conquer, kill, judge, and unleash the wild beasts.
When the fifth seal was opened, the souls of the dead cried out, “How Long, O Lord?”
That is the way I feel, and those are the words I whisper: how long, O Lord, must we endure the wild and reckless ways of our own four horsemen? Bannon the Agitator, Trump the Leader, Miller the Schemer, and Vought the Enforcer.
The coming year will bring new bombings on hapless and helpless people, new prisons and camps for brown people, new names for revered institutions, and new buildings replacing those we know and love. It will disgust most of us; only MAGA and their evangelical preachers and prophets will see in it the hand of God and the End of the World.
This past year demonstrated the rising Resistance to this attack on Law, Justice, Truth, and Democracy. Many, like me, made a protest sign for the first time ever and stood with millions to sing and shout our convictions. Others went to the ballot box and elected people committed to a different way. This was just the beginning.
Bannon, Trump, Miller & Vought had four years to strategize their campaign of conquest of the federal government. They called it PROJECT 2025. Now, we have four years to organize, strategize, and mobilize; and 2026 will bring the first open-field battle, on November 4, when millions of citizens march to the polls and cast our ballots. In January of 2027, Mike the Joke Johnson will be one of the lackeys to lose his position leading Congress, and in his place will be a man of courage and strength, someone willing to stand up and say NO to the Four Horsemen of the American Apocalypse.
This is the year of the Resistance: judges, senators, governors, mayors, even soldiers, scholars, and merchants will join voices to say, HELL NO. We want democracy, we want justice, we want due process, we want fairness, we want transparency, we want the voices of the people to be heard and honored. We want an end to cruelty as public policy. We want an end to pardons of white collar criminals. We want an end to Trump family and friends getting rich is secret deals. We want an end to the repudiation of science and medicine. We want an end to the bald face lying from the White House.
MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN? Our triumph over this wicked and whacky White House will demonstrate the true greatness of these United States. We will survive. We will remember who enabled the shenanigans of this shit-show led by Bannon, Trump, Miller, and Vought. We will once more thrive, from coast to coast, in the glories of life, liberty, and the common pursuit of happiness.
